HED Eroica — Chris King R45 — Sapim CX Ray

While every wheel is a uniquely beautiful product, each wheel shares three main components that dictate how the wheel will ride:

Rims: Ride it all with the tubeless-ready HED Eroica. Their roomier width allows for more volume in your gravel or cyclocross tires, while their profile balances speed and efficiency with the strength to take a hit.
Hubs: Machined by a secret society of metal wizards here in Portland, OR, the R45 hubs bring King-level precision to road or cyclocross. The bearings last forever, the freehubs engage instantly, and they literally look like candy.
Spokes: Superlight, incredible feel and tough as nails, the CX-Ray is the go-to spoke for top-level wheels — suitable for everything from road racing to downhill. Even though they're almost as light as titanium, these are the most fatugue-resistant spokes on the market, according to Sapim's testing.

Once you place an order, you'll be assigned a builder who will review your build and work with you to confirm details and keep you up to date as you order progresses.

All our wheels are 100% built by hand to the highest tolerances allowable for each material. If you're located in the United States, we've got your back with 1 year of complimentary wheel truing and 3 years of complimentary spoke replacement.

Shipping and handling charges will be coordinated with you during your build.

Amy Polo

“I love to explore the less-travelled routes. I have my little gravel obsessions. I will spend an entire season devoted to exploring one area: Gifford Pinchot, Central Oregon, or my latest fascination: the Fifteenmile Creek area around Dufur.”

Sepie Moinipanah

“The thing I love about cycling is the ability to experience your surroundings from a different perspective. You can cover more ground than on foot and slow enough to appreciate the nature around you.”

Jodi Gee

“Cycling has brought me through some pretty hard times including 3 major surgeries, and a continuing battle with thyroid cancer. My recovery is going so well that I’ll be able to run again soon. But the bike will always be my favorite, now!”

Shimran George

“There’s something spiritual about riding a bike and being able to think critically about how you can tackle challenges. Emotions are magnified tenfold. It’s a great time for reflection — and as humans I feel like being able to reflect and gain clarity are essential. Why not do it while pedaling for hours?”
